Good Shepherd Pet Indemnity Alliance, Inc.
There are two ways to become associated with GSPIA.
The Pet Indemnity Contributor level is where you simply register your animal with GSPIA and establish the indemnity account for the dog. This is simple and quick. It requires that the dog be micro chipped. This micro chip information plus additional identifying information needs sending to GSPIA along with the $50.00 fee for registering the dog. The $50.00 fee establishes the $400.00 indemnity fund for the animal if it ever needs it(*).
The other way to associate is to become an Affiliate. There is at present no cost, other than the cost of running a superior breeding practice, associated with becoming an Affiliate. Affiliates are basically breeders who practice and subscribe to a high quality system to let the world know they care deeply for the welfare of the animals they bred or are otherwise responsible. By being Affiliated, breeders are on record as subscribing to high ethical standards, high standards of fair dealing, have gone the extra miles in identifying their dogs via DNA, microchips, etc., put all their Get into the indemnity fund for its welfare and safeguard, have the best possible lifetime guarantee on the Get, and indemnify other Affiliates Get should the need ever arise. The primary goal is for the welfare and safety of the animals produced or handled by Affiliates. The other goal is for the public to establish a very high level of trust and satisfaction with GSPIA Affiliates. Affiliates breed genetically sound animals and guarantee the Get of these breedings to be the same or they will replace without question or reservation all that need replacement. All Affiliates require all animals they are involved to become part of the Pet Indemnity fund. Affiliates do not provide stud service without requiring all subsequent Get (each offspring) from that stud service to be registered and funded into the Pet Indemnity fund.
(*) Groups cannot register animals simply to get fees paid to their group. The animal must be placed with a new owner or otherwise indicate to GSPIA that the indemnity fund was set up to safeguard the future of the animal. Generally several months must pass before claims against the fund will be considered. Each case will be viewed on its own merits. Fees are subject to change from time to time.
