This will conclude the series on Quibbletown history focused through its bitches. Many of these wonderful dogs never left the property at Quibbletown and were virtually unknown to me prior to my research. I have never known a successful breeder that did not value their brood bitches above all else. Few great studs are great without those worthy brood bitches. I am sure I have overlooked some very worthy bitches. There were many over the 40 plus years that Edith and Seaver Smith bred. I am also sure I have overlooked some of you who have benefited in your breeding programs. I hope those of you that I have overlooked will forgive me, I did it out of ignorance. You know what you have done and how the wonderful Quibbletown breeding program has benefited you. Personally this is the best thing I have ever done since Maryann and I began with the breed in 1972. It has been a real education. I have been constantly astounded and surprised by what I found or more correctly what my computer told me. I suspect some of you have been as well.

In Part 8, on Champion Lorvaso de la Colina, I omitted one his premier stud dog sons, Champion Quibbletown Andre. My thanks to Maryann Feller for pointing out to me this very serious omission. For those of you who do not know, Maryann has probably the largest computer data base of Great Pyrenees records anywhere at over 10,000 dogs. Andre was out of Quibbletown Bouncing Bett that we reviewed in Part 2. Andre did get some mention in that part but we should quickly review him some more here. Andre was bred to Quibbletown Gina it looks like four times. Andre would merit consideration solely on the basis of his daughter Quibbletown Ariette. We will come back to her a little later.
Get by Andre are as follows:
Champion Quibbletown Andre
Champion Quibbletown Ariette
Champion Quibbletown Glory Be
Champion Quibbletown Jim Dandy

Champion Quibbletown Merry Maker
Quibbletown Party Girl
Champion Quibbletown Leo the Lion
Quibbletown Sabine
Champion Circle K's Garson du Mont
Neil's Duchess of Vincent
Quibbletown Minnehaha
We pretty well know the importance of the Champion Quibbletown Ariette get, but the descendants of Champion Circle K's Garson du Mont are seen on the west coast of North America through Montblue and subsequently Coldcreek. I will start with the third generation and list some important descendants of Andre.

You can see where these descendants are getting into the present day breeding lines. Andre like his half siblings is a very important dog. The combination of Lorvaso and Bouncing Bett we now know by hind sight is a "can't miss" combination. Edith Smith knew all this long ago as she planned carefully the breeding course of Quibbletown. Quibbletown Ariette was bred to another of Lorvaso's sons, Quibbletown Good Time Charlie. The doubling up on Lorvaso through Andre and Good Time Charlie is "potent stuff". We reviewed this earlier so there is no reason to repeat. Go to Part 8 for more detail.
Lets look at the third generation above as there are some very special dogs there. Champion Quibbletown Valkyrie if not the foundation bitch at Limberlost, whose proprietor is Lois McIntosh in Canada, is maybe the most important early bitch there at Limberlost. The Limberlost dogs are admired by all who have known them and continue till today. Valkyrie is the dam of both American and Canadian Champion Limberlost Rogue and American and Canadian Quibbletown Val's Heritage aka Dennis.. These are two of the most important stud dogs ever in Canada and subsequently important to us all. Descendants of Quibbletown Valkyrie as follows:
First Generation
Limberlost Blanche Demoiselle
Limberlost Bonne et Belle
Limberlost Coeur de Lion
Limberlost Tanya
Quibbletown Challenge
Quibbletown Val's Heritage

Argeles Cary de Tip'N Chip
Quibbletown Double Time
VilleVieux Limberlost Barry
Starlaxy Gauguin Pyrfection
Starlaxy Benjamin Indus
Calilad's Merchant Wizzer
My records in Canada are real weak so I am quite sure there is much more to the Quibbletown Valkyrie story. On a personal note American and Canadian Champion Quibbletown Val's Heritage AKA Dennis and his son Le Dauphine of Limberlost were two really outstanding dogs of the breed. that Maryann and I had the pleasure of seeing and competing against

Another third generation descendant of Andre and full sibling of Quibbletown Valkyrie is Champion Quibbletown Billy Wink. Billy Wink was one of those premier Quibbletown Studs that took his turn as the number one resident stud dog. Since we have already reviewed his ancestors above I will simply list his important descendants.

Many Others
The last of the third generation descendants of Quibbletown Andre that we will concern ourselves with here is Tip'N Chip's Quibbly Dandy. As you might imagine, he is by Champion Quibbletown Jim Dandy and out of Quibbletown Eliza. Quibbly Dandy was an all white dog whelped June 17, 1966. He would be significant for no other reason than being the sire of one of the premier brood bitches in breed history, Champion Tip'N Chip's Roxane. Roxanne was Dam of Champion Tip'N Chip Sonny's Side Up one of the top show dogs in breed history and he is grandsire of the top producing dog in the breed, Champion Pyrson K'Laska of Summerhill aka Macho. Descendants of Quibbly Dandy are very important to Tip'N Chip, Summerhill, Dastekde, Basqmire, Rivergroves, Pyr Peak, Winterwood, Almac, Huny Mtn, Pastorelle, Euzkalzale, Schnee Bar, Pyr Haven, Trottenfox, Pyrless, Marwell, and many, many others.
This next section is purely my impression of what Quibbletown descendants are available to us to use in our breeding programs. Since the death of Edith Smith things changed at Quibbletown a great deal. The breeding program was carried out by another with consultation and communication with Seaver, but away from the property of Quibbletown. I will list some of the breeders who admired and propagated the Quibbletown lines:
Dr. and Mrs. Phillip Stubenrauch in Washington State
Cavalier in Washington State
Limberlost in Canada
Rivard in Canada
Substantial portions of the Karolaska descendants that came down from Queeka Bear, Kuskowin Kid, Sock It To Em, Trudie Fair and others.
VilleVieux
Tip'N Chip has major Quibbletown genes in its basis
Barqueill
Pyramis
Some of the rest of us who have been around for some time, eventually come to realize that there was much good to be gained by using the results of Edith and Seavers many years of line breeding. Just look at the above kennels, especially Cavalier, Limberlost, VilleVieux, Tip'N Chip and Barqueill, and you will see they have or produced some of the top dogs over the most recent past or are just behind these same dogs. More contemporary Quibbletown or essentially all Quibbletown gene dogs your might see in pedigrees today are:
Quibbletown Step Aside
Quibbletown Justin Time II
Quibbletown Roxanne
Sesom Gray Shades of Seador
Sesom Lady Natasha
Quibbletown Liberty Belle
Quibbletown True Brennen
Quibbletown Irie Brennen
Quibbletown Double Time
VilleVieux Felicite
Quibbletown Painted Lady
Quibbletown Ambiance
Quibbletown Prince Aragon
Quibbletown Betsy Ross II
There are many others
The story of Quibbletown is one that could go on for quite awhile and I still would not get it completely. When I look at the ancestors of almost any really nice dog, it does not take to much surface scratching to see Quibbletown. When I crank up the computer I will generally find Lorvaso and his sons in there somewhere as an important contributor.
The Quibbletown story continues April 23-26, 1997, in Frederick, Maryland at the 62 National Speciality of the Great Pyrenees Club of America. Seaver Smith is Judging the breed at the National Speciality for the third time. Edith judged the National Speciality one time. The thing I personally admire about Seaver is that he can see what he likes, which is basically what he and Edith bred, all the way back to Champion Porthos of Monsieur Dretzen in the early 1900's in France through to our contemporary dogs. Seaver has always been outspoken and definite in what he likes and this year should be no exception. He and Edith have devoted their entire lives to the breed. Edith and Seaver always admired the original French Import Estat d'Argeles. They followed that vision all the way until today. We have them to thank for much of the really good stock we now enjoy. They in turn admired and acknowledged Marjorie Butcher of Cote de Neige and Mary Crane of Basquaerie. Very special company that we are honored to have address us one more time with his vision and knowledge. The remaining judging panel is outstanding and this Speciality in 1997 promises to be a very special event.
Hope to see all of you ring side observing history in the making. Seavers knowledge will take us back to the earliest time we have records of the breed. I suspect that as Seaver goes through the dogs he will remember many great Quibbletown dogs that came before. I suspect he will also remember some of those Cote de Neige dogs that he and Edith greatly admired and who knows he may even see a dog that reminds him of the old dog he saw as a young man, Champion Lawrence of Combermere, who he has never forgotten.
