My Diet Diary
God led me to discover the causes of my lifetime of obesity. His program has led me on my current journey to good health which will eventually equal normal weight. If you follow God's plan for your body you too can achieve success just as I am doing now.

struggling against Ovarian Cancer

I am Joseph B. Gentzel, RPT. I qualify as a the senior Physical Therapist by my age and experience. My adult friends call me Joe, but I grew up with the nickname of Butch. That seems like a million years ago, but those childhood names stick pretty easily. Its a great pleasure to hear myself called "Butch" these days as it probably means that I am talking with an old childhood friend or my lovely wife, Maryann who has been my life since 1964. Maryann is also an Ovarian Cancer survivor and a large part of what I am all about as Senior Physical Therapist. Maryann's struggle continues, but a lot of what you will hear from me is from my dual view point as a scared confused husband and also a Physical Therapist with over 40 years background in the field that included a clinical emphasis in Geriatrics and pain control/modulation. It looks like at the moment that Maryann is winning our families struggle with her health. For that we all praise God and give Him all the credit. One thing that something like this does is focus ones life on what is important.

Good health is way up there near the top of the list along with God, family and love for others. It's like the man said; "If I knew I was going to live so long I would have taken better care of myself." Actually, youth is wasted on the young, as we just took the good health part of youth for granted. As a Physical Therapist I saw the problems of aging, so had some real clues as the young Physical Therapist, but its quite different when you actually arrive to a totally new point of reference. That is part of being the Senior Physical Therapist.

Senior Physical Therapist is devoted to you and your health. It is based on the information and knowledge I gained from my many years of living and as a Registered Physical Therapist. July 24, 2009 is the start date for the Senior Physical Therapist. A chorus of hallelujah's should accompany this announcement. I'll see what I can do about that eventually.

Another part of what you will hear from me is my lifelong battle with obesity. With the help of God I have finally, at age 66, put the pieces together by understanding how God intended us to nourish our bodies that he created.  As with everything, God was and is essential in the process of understanding what was required to be successful. So part of what you will see as we go down this path is my overcoming a lifetime of obesity that had progressed to the point that I an still classified as morbidly obese.

Rick Warren just tweeted me and thousands of others a few days ago and said the following: "A key to spiritual growth is to pass on whatever you learn. God gives more insight to those who share with others.2Tim.2:2." I needed the boost to get off of start and get the Senior Physical Therapist going. God speaks to us in many ways. I listen now much better.

I just watched Joel Osteen preach today on investing in others for the future by offering what you have learned and mentoring others. Something I have always believed in in my Physical Therapist's life. God is pushing me to get this information to people so they can honor their bodies while they pass through this life here on earth. God, I am trying!
